"Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah."
Every muslim dreams of performing umrah or hajj once in a lifetime. They save their income to fulfill their reason. Muslims around the world perform umrah even though they know it’s a non-mandatory pilgrimage. Although it is non-obligatory, it is still one of the most famous rituals. You can perform once a year. I heard that December is a good time for cheap umrah packages, and next year's journey is suited for everybody.
As for guide, we definitely need to know the history of umrah. According to the history of Islam, it is connected to Prophet Ibrahim A.S. The roots are still connected as our beloved Prophet Muhammad
“O Allah, send Your favor upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent favor upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. You are indeed praiseworthy, glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. You are indeed praiseworthy, glorious.”
Durood-e-Ibrahimi (Salawat al-Ibrahimiyyah)
Prophet Ibrahim A.S is also known as Khalil Allah. The focal point of Hajj and Umrah is the Kaaba. As we pray in the direction of the Kaaba. It was built by Prophet Ibrahim A.S and his sons. Prophet Ismail is known for pure house worship, and He was dedicated to God.
The origin of Sai is known as walking or running between the hills of SAFAR and MARWAH. This was done by Amma Hajar(Hagar) when Prophet Ismail needed water, also known as ZamZam. After walking seven times, Prophet Ismail drank ZamZam water.
“Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. Hence, whosoever performs Hajj or Umrah at the holy Kaabah can safely walk between them without fearing any sin. And Allah Knows and Appreciates him who does any good with a willing heart.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:158)
In pre-Islamic history, umrah was still performed as an Islamic ritual. Although people forgot to perform it accurately. They include idols and worship them. They also put idols in the Kaaba.
After Islam, the rituals were cited correctly.
After Islam, Prophet Muhammad signed a treaty for the umrah. The treaty is known as Hudabiyyah, and that year, no umrah was performed. The agreement was to perform umrah for three days next year.
The next year, Muslims performed Umrah(7 AH) and identified it as a Fulfilled Umrah (Umrat Al Qada). All the idols and pagans were removed from the kaaba. A pure recitation was again introduced to worship the Almighty.
After the Treaty of Hudabiyyah, 9 AH, Muslims conquered Mecca and removed all idols and pagans that were present in the Kaaba. After victory, non-Muslims were forgiven by Prophet Muhammad Every year, people from all around the world book umrah packages from the UK.
When performing Umrah, you need to read and understand the steps to perform Umrah. The steps are crucial, so you must read and understand them carefully.
Ilhram is a ritual state of sanctity before entering and reaching the boundaries of Haram (known as Miqat).
After that, we need to clean our bodies (Ghusal), trim nails, and spray attar on ourselves. The reason is to clean our physical structure.
● Men: will wear clothes (one around the waist and the other around the shoulder). The head must remain uncovered.
● Women: while women can wear any clothes that define Islamic culture, only the face and hands can be uncovered.
Intention, also called Niyyah, is formally seeking yourself to the Lord.
"O Allah! I intend to perform Umrah, so make it easy for me and accept it from me."
After Niyyah, you need to speak directly and intentionally. Men can speak loudly, and women can speak softly. We need to recite these words till we reach the Kaaba and start tawaf.
Labbayka Allāhumma Labbayk... (Here I am, O Allah, here I am...)
● Performing tawaf means circulating counter-clockwise seven times. After that, you should enter Masjid AL haram with your right foot and recite a dua.
(Allahumma iftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik)
"O Allah, open for me the doors of Your Mercy."
● After entering and reciting the dua in Masjid Al Haram, you should move towards the corner of the Black Stone ( also known as Al-Hajar al-Aswad). This point is where our Tawaf started. .
● Face the black stone and say this dua. You can touch it or face towards the stone.
"Bismillahi Wallahu Akbar" (In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest)
Dua is not compulsory. You can recite Quran verses and also a sincere dua for your personal life. It is also traditional to recite between Rukn al-Yamani and Black Stone, two corners and recite,
“Lord, grant us good in this life and good in the hereafter and save us from the punishment of the fire.” (Sunan Abi Dawud 1892)
After reciting, your Tawaf is completed. It means at the end of the seventh circuit.
After Tawaf, perform two Rakats at the station of Ibrahim (Maqam e Ibrahim). You can pray and read dua’s anywhere at the mosque if it is not crowded. You can also visit Dua for travel to read all dua’s for Umrah.
At the end, drink ZamZam water, and pray a dua for its blessing.
I begin with the Name of Allah; I trust in Allah; there is no altering of conditions but by the Power of Allah.”
