(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 3062)

One of the finest waters is considered ZamZam water. The water is famous all around the world. Especially, in the muslim community, it is considered holy water and also used in rituals to perform hajj and umrah. You can also drink it or take it for your family. Located in Mecca in Masjid al Haram. The Zam Zam well is about four mellina.

The Sacred Origins of Zamzam Water

The sacred origin of ZamZam water came from our beloved prophet, Ibrahim A.S. He was considered a follower of monotheism. That means following only Almighty God. The history will be explained below.

Historical Background: Hajar, Ismail, and the Spring

As we know, history is linked with Prophet Abrahim A.S. It is also linked with his son, Prophet Ismail, and his wife, Hajra.  The prophet was ordered to leave his second wife and his son in Mecca. And the prophet did what God wanted. He left his wife and young newborn son.

As the Prophet Ibrahim A.S left. The small water supply also ended. Our Prophet Ismail, who was a child at the time, began to cry. Hazart Hajra became intense and worried. She went to another place but couldn’t find water. As the crying noise becomes louder. After that, Prophet Ismail used his foot and rubbed the mountain. A little drop of water started coming from the mountain. Also, the well of ZamZam has still been working for 4000 years.

From Prophet Abrahim to the last prophet Muhammad SAW, Zamzam is very dear to the Islamic community.

Amma Hajra ran towards the mountain 7 times between Al Safa and Al Marwa. After the seventh circuit, she went back to Prophet Ismail A.S., and a miracle happened.

According to authentic tradition, Prophet Jabeerl came and went straight to the mountain, where Jabreel either used his wing or feet, where Ismail A.S was rubbing it. Then he transforms dry soil into water in the form of a bubbling spring.

“After Prophet Jabreel A.S brought water from the mountain. Amma Hajra got worried and said, “Zam! Zam!” The Arabic word means “Stop following” and “gathering together”. Even our beloved Prophet narrated. If Hajra hadn’t said Zam Zam. The water would flow through the whole world.
