Top 10 Duas For Traveling: Your Guide to a Blessed Journey

Hajj Umrah

Traveling is an act of worship in Islam. The prophets have guided us with amazing duas to travel around the world.

"Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could not have subdued it ourselves. And indeed, to our Lord we will return."

Quran 43:13-14

Duas are pillars of our efforts. They help us to remain firm in life. Duas for travelling must be performed, because they help us to protect from the Devil and Nazar(evil eye). Dua for travelling on a plane or car can also be prayed while going to Hajj or Umrah. If you are embarking on a safe journey, Hajj Umrah 4u is offering cheap Umrah packages from Uk. These will help to comfort your journey.

"O Allah, we ask You for righteousness and piety in this journey of ours, and we ask You for deeds which please You."

Muslim

Purpose Of Duas While Traveling!

You can travel without dua, but are you sure about your safety?

As Muslims, we are never sure. We believe that protection only comes from Almighty God. This protection could be through angels, humans, or other means. For this kind of protection, we seek God’s help.

Dua saves travel, and we get all these from it. As we also mentioned above, Muslim Bukhari.

Why We Pray for Protection?

Everyone wants to have a safe journey. The journey for us to have faith in God’s words. And Gods are dua’s. So if we want to seek protection from it, we need to learn and read as many duas as we can. So pray two rakat and read this.

“When you leave your house, perform two raka’at, and this will safeguard you against evil. When you enter your home, perform another two raka’at, and this will safeguard you against evil.”

(Musnad Al-Bazzar)

The Need for Comprehensive Supplication (Du'a as-Safar)

Blessing from God is like finding a silver lining. A wise guy always pursues God’s side. May your journey be blessed with this dua and fulfill it.

“O Allah, I ask You for all good, the immediate and the deferred, that which I know and that which I do not know.”

Jami' al-Khair

Guidance

The best way to live life is with God’s guidance. Guidance is an Arabic word that means to seek spiritual direction from God. It illuminates our lifestyles. Moreover, it’s a way of selecting right and wrong. You also seek direction by praying two Rakat.

"O Allah, make this journey easy for us and shorten its distance."

Muslim

The Comprehensive Travel Dua

Dua Before Satisfying Journey is like topping chocolate on your ice cream. Who doesn’t like topping on ice cream? That's what Dua saves travel. A gate that looks after your safety so that no robber comes and robs you, or a layer of shield so that no killer comes to kill you.

"O Allah, You are our companion in the journey and the guardian of our family."

Muslim

Breaking Down the Du'a's Components:

Do you think that by saying the dua’s words, you can attain a safe journey?

Well, you need to submit yourself to God and believe that He is the only one who will protect you. Well, you also need to know which fundamentals are required to submit. So, they are following these components.

Acknowledgement of God's Power

Having said that, we also need to acknowledge or existence of God’s power.

Qur'an (Surah Az-Zukhruf 43:13-14):

"That you may settle firmly on their backs, and then recall the favour of your Lord when you are settled upon them, and say, 'Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we were not able [to mount] it. And indeed, to our Lord we will return.'"

Brief Illumination:

We need to accept the destiny of God. God always acknowledges for our betterment. So we believe he is doing better for us. Rizq is and always will be given by him. That is our Divine Provision.

Seek Protection

Seek Protection is calling for direct help from God. The best way to call is to seek protection from everything that can harm us.

Sahih Muslim 3275

Arabic Text

Transliteration (Select Part)

Translation (Focus on Protection)

Allahumma inni a'ūdhubika min wa'thā’is-safar, wa ka’ābatil-manẓar,wa sū’il-munqalabi fil-māli wal-ahl

"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of the journey, and from having a gloomy sight (unpleasant view), and from an ill-fated return regarding wealth and family."

Brief Illumination:

In this journey, we seek safety, ease, and positive outcomes from Allah while traveling around this world. As mentioned above in the Hadith. It can protect us from hardships, gloomy sights, and ill-fated return. We not only seek our protection but also our family members' protection from it.

Surah Al-Falaq (113): "Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak... from the evil of that which He created... and from the evil of the envier when he envies.'"

Surah An-Nas (114): "Say, 'I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind... from the evil of the whisperer who slinks away, who whispers in the breasts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind.'"

Requesting Ease and Piety

Translation: "O Allah, we ask You in this journey of ours for righteousness (Birr) and piety (Taqwa), and for deeds which please You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us (hawwin) and fold up its distance (iṭwi)."

Du'a found in Sahih Muslim 1342

Brief Illumination:

The point describes to us that we believe that with God’s assistance, our traveling journey will be at ease. The distance to travel hardship can be explained logically and physically. So our Beloved Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ say’s in Bukhari Sharif.

"Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship..."

Qur'an 2:185

The Companion and Guardian

By submitting your family to God, you are proving His existence. This is one of the powerful statement any muslim explain. This is called Tawakkul.

Translation: "O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Successor (Guardian) over the family."

Sahih Muslim 1342

Brief Illumination:

Having said that, this hadith is proof of God who protects our family. Even when we are traveling from one place to another. We present Al-Khalifah when we travel!. But we also believe He is a divine protector of our lives.

Translation: "...and from an ill-fated outcome with regard to wealth and family."

Believe in the Afterlife

Muslim believes that there is an afterlife for all of us. It can be good( Paradise) or bad (Hell). So, while traveling, we need to believe that He controls our life, either in this world or the afterlife.

Translation: "And indeed, to our Lord we will return."

Qur'an, Surah Az-Zukhruf 43:14

Brief Illumination:

The brief illumination of the afterlife is to accept our destiny. We came to this world with purpose, and we will return to where we belong. The judgment day will come one day. This is a temporary journey. And the power of God is a piece of torment.

Qur'an (Surah Al-'Ankabut 29:20):

"Say, [O Muhammad], 'Travel through the land and observe how He began creation. Then Allah will produce the final creation (the Afterlife). Indeed Allah, over all things, is competent.'"

Protection from Hardship and the Devi

While traveling to a place, we have to pray before it. This will help us protect from the devil. Worshipping God through dua is also a sign of power and comfort, which is given by the Almighty God through dua.

"We return, repentant, worshipping and praising our Lord."

Muslim & Bukhari

Brief Illumination:

The devil can be in any form. It can be a Nazar or a spiritual attack. So we have to believe that only Almighty God can protect us from the devil.

("And say, 'My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils.'" - Qur'an 23:97).
